PHOTOMONTAGE
My piece is a contemporary adaption of the artistic content associated with Dada in many different ways. The main adaption of dada I was trying to portray was their ironic and satirical style. There were a couple of art pieces in class that stood out to me as satirical and ironic and I wanted to try and replicate that with my piece. The main image is a picture of Donald Trump looking hypnotized by things such as money and war. These were things we had also discussed in class that the Dada did not like, but, are also things that Donald Trump tends to be stereotyped with. The background are words that make up problems in society but are ignored by things that’s are seemingly less important. There were many other aspects of dada that I tried to subtly include with my piece to add more satire.
The composition guideline I choose for my piece is framing. The sunglasses outline the war explosion and dollar signs showing that everything else is being ignored. I purposefully left everything else in black and white to put more emphasis on what is believed to be most important.
The composition guideline I chose supports the content I provided about dada because I am making fun of the anti-war idea and showing that politician in their time as well were very big and involved in with war. This is the main reason why I chose the war images to have color and be framed by the glasses worn by Donald Trump. Also, have everything the background be very neutral and seem to not catch the politicians attention.
Futurism
My final futurism image depicts a Ford Mustang in the front and center of my image and the mustang logo in the background. This piece is a contemporary adaption of the artistic content associated with futurism because of their pro-war mindset and love for machines and gears. My piece was mainly inspired by the “Large Horse” statue from Raymond Duchamp-Villon. This abstract piece represented energy and power through its representation of a horse and gears. I wanted to use that idea of machinery and put it into my piece. The car is representing the modern-day version of the mustang and to show how far we have come with technology; especially transportation. Italian futurism was during an era where horses were being replaced by tanks in war and I wanted to represent that with my piece.
The principles of deign I used for this piece were emphasis and pattern. I wanted the car to be the main focus of the photo, so I used emphasis by making it a bright red color and against a black, white, and gray background. In this case, I was using color to emphasize the car in the center of my piece. I also used repetition with the mustang horses in the background. I think the repetition
My principle of design choices I think is what helps show how my piece is associated with futurism. I wanted to show the relationship between horses and machinery in modern-day and I think using the emphasis principle and the repetition helped portray that. In order to create this piece, I used a mixture of the pen tool and the paint brush tool to trace and outline the horses and the car.
Soviet Montage
For my piece on soviet montage I chose to represent metric montage. Metric montage puts more emphasis on the length of clips rather than what is in the clip. I chose to do this with my video because I wanted there to be emphasis on the story line and the buildup of the spaceship. I was hoping to represent a mission of astronauts into space. The clips at the beginning are timed at exactly 3 seconds to show the importance of all aspects that go into space take off. Each scene shows a new person or job until the rocket takes off. Also, the end of my video is separated into many three-minute clips when the astronauts reach space as well.
Copyright is defined as an exclusive right to publish or reproduce a piece of work. My video follows these guidelines because the clips are made up of videos I found in the Prelinger Archive. These videos are very old and fall under the rules of copyright that lasts 70 years after the death of the author. Also, the music I found was on a website that was for free use. It is important when using certain items on the internet that you check to ensure it does not require attribution, attribution share-alike, non-commercial, attribute and non-derivative, non-commercial and share-alike, and attribution and non-commercial and non-derivative. I had a difficult time finding a song because of my video theme as well as finding a website that didn’t have songs that were copyrighted. After further research I came across a website that had space sounds as well as music for free.
